Introduction

The "Penguin Dinner"

Where

Uni dining hall, or somewhere else?

Peter Rowland Catering - Donna making enquiries.

Faye Coker things the aquarium would be a good place

StewartSmith says that aquarium is good - potentially too small though. Also, it can end up being close to $100/head. Although it is very nice.

Probably waaaaay too expensive.

    • Problems: ?
  • 2005 - Canberra University refectory
    • Buffet arrangement
    • Walked to venue (on campus, next to conference area)
    • Problems: most people couldn't see the stage (which was on one end of a ~3:1 rectangle rather than in the middle of the long side and on floor level rather than raised), and sound relied strictly on the sound system; the penguin sponsor speaker refused to use the microphone, so most of the room couldn't hear him, leading to rather embarrassing behaviour at the back.
  • 2004 - Adelade entertainment centre, quite upmarket (ice tuxes)
    • Catered/Table Service
    • Walked to venue (fair walk, almost between venue and provided accomodation)
    • Problems: no time-slot to change before the event (especially for those who didn't feel confident they would find it), so many delegates wore T-shirts while their partners were dressed up.
  • 2003 - Currie Hall
    • Catered/Table Service
    • Walked to venue (next to campus, part of provided accomodation)
    • Problems: toilets couldn't cope (not sure if there's anything to be done about that).

    • Took ferry service/public transport/drove (Sth Brisbane)

    • Walked to venue (on campus, nearly oposite side of campus from conference area)
  • 1999 - ?
    •  ??
