T-shirt auction

The HOWTO says about the t-shirt auction:

A charity auction is not mandatory. organisers are not obliged to try to raise money at all. However, there are often surplus funds, even after LA obligations are met, and it is nice to give back to the local community.

The t-shirt has sold for silly amounts of money in previous years - perhaps several items would prove better as there has been stress when people have sobered up. Also, completely different ideas are of course at the LCA teams discretion. New ideas are welcome!

Personally, the auction at the Penguin Dinner has never sat well with me, but I'm not sure why; somehow it feels like it doesn't belong at the event. Perhaps move it elsewhere, or dispense with it altogether? I don't know. Maybe it's just me. (Of course, the t-shirt auction has nothing to do with LCA/LA surplus funds, since LCA itself usually doesn't bid.) --Jiri 23:10, 5 Apr 2006 (EST)
