Introduction

The confrence guide, the book in the bag, what should be in it?

Pre-conference information

Some of this information should probably be sent to delegates before the conf; there's not much point putting a map of "how to get from the college to registration" in the showbag...

  • how to get to registration
  • pre-conference event on Sunday night
  • Tuesday evening event (for those who come for the main conference only)
  • after-hours delegates' lounge / designated congregation point (viz Rooms and Informal Networking)
  • how to get to the accomodation (both PT and car)
  • parking at accomodation and at the venue
  •  ? CitiLink
  • emergency / general / after-hours contacts

Program

Include program of the main conference. Programs for each miniconf would be nice as well.

Abstract of each talk, and bio of each speaker.

Maps

We have 18 months to participate in http://www.openstreetmap.org/ - get people with GPS's to do traces so that we can generate customised local - free vector based maps - go to

  • Map of venue, including all the rooms (both those on the program and any others).
  • Map of Local Area
  • Map of Greater Melb
  • nearby eateries and connections to major transport points

List of delegates

This has been in here historically, a way for it to seem more legit. Usually only include professional delegates.

List of good restaurants and pubs

This would be really good, and something that's been an issue in previous years

Probably best if this is actually a separate LocalGuide - less to carry around when you're out and about

Networking details

  • Wired
    • At the conf venue
    • At the accomodation
  • Wireless
    • SSID etc.

Static IP for each attendee. Could be good - esp if people want to exchange stuff or start services (maybe for demo... or to play network games or something)

Contacts

  • Emergency contact (phone number)
  • General contact, same as emerency contact?
  • Accomodation contacts
  • Taxis/Travel
